Tam Huynh, Hands of Steel... Heart of Gold

Master Tam of Vovinam receives the Master of The Year award from American Taewondo leader Flame Williamson

Tam Huynh, IV Pharmacist, CII and compounding man for NeighborCare-Chalotte, NC since 1998, has touched many lives with his "Hands of Steel and Heart of Gold Program". Tam is a Master of the Martial Art of Vovinam (which means Martial Arts in Vietnamese), a Doctor of acupuncture, music teacher and community leader. Since leaving Vietnam, over 30 years ago, Tam has served the Vietnamese Community in the US in many ways. Master Tam teaches over 100 students in each of his weekly Martial Arts classes. He administers acupuncture daily to those in need. What’s more...Tam provides these services free of charge. Coworker Karen Moore, who was skeptical about acupuncture mentions "I knew Tam did acupuncture, and one day out of desperation I asked if he thought he could help me. He looked at my feet and told me to come to his clinic. Within two treatments, I was in less pain and walking better. After a few more treatments, I was walking normally with no pain."

Tam teaches his students lessons of life and lives by the Vovinam philosophy: "to help yourself, you must help others". This philosophy is also shared in the NeighborCare workplace. Always counted on for a big smile, positive attitude and willingness to share and help everyone, Tam is considered a role model by coworkers and the community he serves.
